THE SPACE
The Space’s 6-week summer programs facilitate positive experiences while sparking curiosity and excitement. Students work hard during the school year both in and outside of the classroom; therefore, we design summer programs that allow students to learn in new ways.

OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS
Our goal is to provide continued access to educational opportunities throughout the summer months.
The Space will support 16 emerging bilingual students three days per week so that they can engage with the English language during their time off of school. This summer we will have an arts-based curriculum, featuring dance, drama, music, and visual arts.
The Space will provide several highlighted math activities and games each session. Come in for spiral art, tesselations, optical illusions, an exploration of infinity, and beyond!
Get your creativity flowing! Blast off with words, write a legend, try your hand at creating song lyrics, and rewrite your favorite story. There will be opportunities to share writing aloud and in a published format.
The Space will offer a new activity each week and provide materials, instructions, and help from our staff. Some featured activities are building a life-size planetarium, launching hot air balloons, and making gummy bears.
Get ready for college application season! SAT prep, college application help, essay inspiration and more. No appointment needed.
The Space will offer a field trip every Friday. Some trips will be local (biking, swimming, fishing) and others will be further afield (Redfish Lake, Lava Tubes, Silver Creek Preserve, and rafting with White Otter). Students must sign up ahead of time. Bagged lunches provided.
This summer, The Space will again create and distribute Bags-Full-of-Science at the Bloom Truck in Bellevue. Students have the option to complete their activity at the park to take it home for some family fun. Look forward to Cartesian divers, paper airplane launchers and ice cream fun.
The Bellevue Library will host activity sessions with The Space for three weeks in July. Elementary students and older are invited to join us for a boat building challenge, tessellations, and popping boba balls.
The Space’s staff will lead active outdoor activities three times per week during lunch.
Hosted by The Space and led by students, our office will hold a weekly Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) game time. Rising 6th graders through seniors are welcome to join.
Students will learn new skills using textiles and fibers each week. Knitting, sewing, embroidery, needlepoint, and felting are all possibilities. Make an arm-knitted scarf, embroider your star sign, and kick around a felted soccer ball.
Students will gather in the office to hear a story read out loud.
Following a successful academic-year partnership with The YMCA, The Space will facilitate a weekly trip to the Y. More details to come!
Students will work together to prepare a healthy lunch for The Space’s staff and students. Participants will be in charge of cooking and serving. Meals include pita and hummus, tacos, salad, sushi wraps and grilled cheese.
